Sleep well, live well

Recent research has shown that a good night’s sleep is as important for good health as oxygen, food and water. Sleep is not just important for your physical health but for your mental and emotional well-being as well. Because it refreshes the mind while it repairs the body.

You probably already know that healthy sleep can prevent fatigue, poor concentration & memory, mood disturbances, impaired judgement & reaction time, as well as poor physical coordination. But there are other benefits to a good night’s sleep that may surprise you.

For instance, a good sleeping pattern can improve your immune system, cholesterol levels and blood pressure, it can also reduce inflammation, your risk of depression and even help you lose weight. In fact, research has found that people who sleep fewer than 7 hours a night are more likely to be overweight or obese. *(1)

However, possibly the greatest benefit of a good night’s sleep is that it helps the body to repair damage caused by stress, ultraviolet rays, and other harmful exposure, because your cells produce more protein while you are sleeping. These protein molecules form the building blocks for cells, allowing them to repair the damage.

The climatic conditions in your bedroom have a major effect on how well you sleep, and doctors recommend that the ideal temperature range is between 16 and 19 degrees centigrade*(2) and humidity between 30% and 50% *(3). This is where a Breville humidifier with warm and cold mist can help you maintain this “sweet spot” for a relaxing and restorative sleep all night long. As well as a better night’s sleep, optimum humidity also means you’ll breathe better and your skin, eyes, throat and sinuses will all feel better when you wake.
