Group head purge
To ensure nothing interferes with the exceptional flavor of your freshly brewed, third wave specialty coffee, maintain your Barista Pro™ in peak condition and regularly clean it. We recommend that you purge the group head before and after each brewing session to achieve great-tasting coffee every time. Using the machine to clean itself makes this purge both simple and highly effective. First, insert the filter basket you intend to use into the portafilter. Then you'll want to insert the unit into the group head and lock it into place. Next, set an empty cup into position below the group head. Touch the '1-Cup' button. This will cause hot water to pour through the group head, flushing away any loose grounds or oil buildup. After five seconds, touch the '1-Cup' button again to stop the purge. Not only does this effectively clean away any coffee residue, but it also balances the water temperature before you brew your first cup. Repeat this simple purge at the end of your brewing session. Following these steps before and after brewing will keep your group head ready to deliver delicious coffee at the touch of a button.
