Great at first, but then began to fail

I loved this oven at first - worked great, size was great, and I had no issues. But then the functionality started to fail. The start button just doesn't work at all sometimes. I'll have to either hold it down for a fill minute or keep pressing and pressing until it finally starts. And then the other buttons perform different functions than they actually should. For example, I'll press the convection function, but instead of turning the convection fan on, it'll change the temp from F to C. Very disappointed that I spent so much on a staple kitchen item to only have it fail on me. It was great while it was working but just doesn't last well.

Two issues

Great oven until:
1. The door opening assist started an awful scraping noise when opening and closing. It has the effect of fingernails on a chalkboard. (You have to be over fifty to grasp the allusion)
I disassembled the unit and tried to find a way to repair the offending appendage to no avail
2. The start stop button started to malfunction several months ago. It will turn itself on at inopportune times and enter a cycle of start and stop as rapid as a machine gun. So now we have to plug the unit in to use it and unplug it afterwards. It worked fine for a year. Another fine example
It worked fine for a year

Well worth the investment

We've had this model for at least six years and use it daily. The fan noise others mention happens, but I don't find it as bothersome. Eventually the door magnets wear down and the door opens on its own - some cheap metal button magnets corrected that. Occasionally the buttons get confused and try to perform each other's functions - a quick double-tap fixes that. Otherwise it has been rock solid. I recently decided to try another high end kitchen brand model with similar sizing and features...after a week my family demanded I return it and restore the old Breville (or buy a new one). I'll never stray again.

Disappointed

I bought this oven two years ago and have been generally unimpressed, considering the price. Its main function for me is to produce toast or bagels in the morning, however it toasts unevenly and takes a very long time. The window in the door is tinted, making it hard to see the degree of doneness of the toast. My wife uses it for more complex operations and likes it quite a bit. However, it just died, showing E01 as an error code. My understanding from reading other comments is that it is unrepairable. I just noticed it only has a one-year warranty which is puzzling considering the brand name and the price. I am in the process of trying to contact Breville to see what options I have.

Happy but Greasy

We have had our large toaster oven for about 3 months and thoroughly enjoy it. We primarily use it on the air fry cooking setting for meats, especially bacon and chicken because the meat is kept moist and tasty. Our one criticism is that it drips grease underneath it all the time. Can't find why or from where exactly but we're working on trying to solve this one drawback. We are using the black enamel baking pan with the meat on a rack on top and collect a lot of the grease but suspect what's dripping below is coming down the walls. Not sure there's a solution because we're not giving up the bacon!

2nd oven, same issues!!

I bought 2 of these ovens within the past 4 years. When it works, it's great. It heats fairly evenly and is large enough to feed a family of 4. The issue is with their build quality, specifically with the convection fan. This feature was the #1 reason why I chose this oven over a few others. Both of my ovens' convection fans died within 18 months of purchase. The fix is really expensive and would leave us without a piece of equipment that we use nearly every day. I wish their build quality matched the price they charge for their ovens. Not sure if I can recommend in good conscience.

Purchased when first introduced to the market.

I bought this oven many years ago after my microwave burned up from someone using it as a timer, but in microwave mode. I've been using it as a microwave replacement since then, just had to be patient with reheating. After cooking, I always leave the oven door open to quickly relieve the heat and prevent heat soaking into the electronics. The quartz elements help provide instant heat for browning compared to NiChrome elements in basic ovens. Sometimes the knobs get finicky, but it seems to happen during high humidity, my home stereo volume knob and washer/dryer knobs do the same thing.

Worked well but now it doesn't turn on

At first this was an excellent oven. We purchased the matching cutting board and it's a nice set, looking good and working well. But then we experienced what others have complained about as well: the buttons got touchy and finicky. In the beginning it didn't seem too bad, in our household we were joking about who has the magic touch to hit the start button just right so that it actually powers up, and then when it got harder we figured that it might be a great day to buy a lottery ticket on any day when the oven just simply turns on without a fuss. But now it refuses to turn on at all, and hopefully customer service can recommend a reasonable next step even if the oven is past the 1 year warranty.
