My Breville express has a grinder, but I needed a second grinder for decaf beans, so I don’t always have to empty the hopper to change beans, and the smart grinder pro is perfect for the home. Love the fact I can grind into the portafilter, or into a paper filter for my Breville Precision (although I don’t really use it for drip coffee). It also looks amazing on the counter next to espresso machine.

Smart Grinder Pros is an excellent grinder which gives consistent output. In the beginning, it was not obvious how to determine the exact settings to obtain a perfect quantity and size for our Bergville Infuser,  but after watching a video on YouTube presented by a guy using a small scale to weight the exact quantity each time, I got an idea. I have used my kitchen scale, once for one cup and once for two cups (double-wall baskets), and after two or three tries with different ground sizes and time I had perfect settings. 
Then I decided to use a single wall basket and just went down a few 1/10s of second until the result was perfect. Not difficult and fast. I have used the scale only once and since then, with saved presets, this grinder produces every time a consistent quantity for my espresso machine.
Absolutely recommended.

I have bought 2 of these units and both have problems with the build quality. The panel on the front of the unit (where the LCD screen, buttons, and knob are located) have been installed crooked. On one, the panel stuck out 1/8" on the left side and was recessed by a similar amount on the other. I returned that unit. On this new unit, the panel is sticking out noticeably on the lower left side, with obvious paint issues. I would not expect this from a $300 machine.

Died after 19 months

This grinder was used at most once daily for morning espresso and the occasional drip coffee.  One morning the internal motor/gears starting making a horrible "knocking" sound.  No grinds came out, just noise.

The grinder is completely unusable in just over a year and a half.  This is not a quality product. The short warranty should tell you everything you need to know about how long Breville expects this to last.  I was offered a diagnostic and repair (at my expense) or small discount on another one.. 

It may look good in the kitchen, but please look elsewhere for a quality grinder that will serve you well for years to come.

This product works amazing and is very easy to use grinds my espresso beans perfectly!

Better for Finer Grind Coffee

I really enjoy this grinder, though even with the most coarse setting, doesnt quite seem coarse enough for my French Press, though that may very well be my personal preference for French Press
Luckily though, I mainly make Pour Over, and Drip Coffee(Breville Precision Brewer) so that is rarely an issue

It definitely will take a short while to find your prefered grind size and timer, but luckily you are able to program and save your desired grind up to 0.2 seconds

Not accurate grind

The dial turns but seems to 'slip' so you don't know what the grind setting really is because it's not accurate on the screen. It's okay if you figure out a setting by trial and error for days and then don't change the grind setting. Not good if you want to use different coffees with different settings. When the machine is freshly cleaned, it retains about 3g of coffee - put 20.4 in got 17.3 out. After a running through about 2 to 3 coffees, it starts putting out what you put in, sometimes a bit more. This is my third machine, the first one was good for about 3 months and I loved it. Long wait times for customer service call backs.
