How to create latte art: the heart
With the Breville Barista Express®, third wave coffee is at your fingertips in under a minute. As our most popular manual espresso machine, the Barista Express® can grind, dose, and extract your beans in under a minute—and you can use our powerful espresso wand to perfectly texture microfoam milk. Microfoam is crucial to all your favorite espresso drinks, like cappuccinos, flat whites, and lattes. It’s also the secret ingredient to beautiful latte art. In this video, our host demonstrates how you can make a latte art classic at home: 'The Heart.' First, create The Dot. To do this, pour your textured milk into a tilted cup of freshly extracted espresso. Pierce the center of the crema with a steady, thin stream of milk, and bring the cup upright. Move the lip of the milk jug towards the liquid’s surface and wait for a white dot to appear. Continue to pour the milk so the dot grows. To create a heart shape, “pull” your milk through the dot in a stream. Congratulations! You’ve mastered the famous “Heart” shape, and can now experiment with other designs like The Rosetta or Tulip.
