How to create latte art: the heart
Although the heart is considered an intermediate latte art pattern, it begins with the same instructions as making the dot albeit with a slight variation in technique. To start, hold the jug up high and with the cup tilted, which will create a larger surface area of the espresso. Make sure to remove any large bubbles by tapping the jug against the bench. This will create a texture similar to wet paint, which will help integrate the microfoam into the milk. Then pour a thin constant stream of microfoam to pierce the center of the crema. The next step is to fill the cup with milk while tilting the cup more upright but not enough to spill. Then bring the tip of the jug close to the surface of the milk, almost touching it. You'll start to see a white dot, which will grow larger as you keep pouring steadily. As the final step, pour through the dot and lift the jug to finish.
