How to perform a descale

Share with friends

The Oracle® will let you know when you need to descale the machine by displaying a pop-up ‘Empty Me’ message. When this happens, turn the machine off and then press and hold the 1 CUP button. Hold the POWER button at the same time for 3 seconds. Then you will see rSEt on the LCD screen. Rotate the SELECT dial until you see 'dESC.' Press to enter the Descale mode. The next step is emptying the boilers. With a small long flat head screwdriver, remove the gray silicone cover and then place a cloth over the drip tray to keep steam from escaping. Unscrew the right valve counterclockwise until it is fully open and venting steam. When the water stops flowing into the drip tray, rescrew the valve clockwise. Repeat the same process on the left valve. Next, empty the drip tray and then remove the water filter. The next step is to begin descaling. Add descaling powder to the water tank and then fill it with cold water until you reach the MAX line. To flush the boilers, press the 1 CUP button to clean the machine with fresh water. This process will take 20 minutes. Repeat this process a second time to remove any residual descaling solution. Finally, empty the boilers by unscrewing and rescrewing the valves, then empty the drip tray and refill the water tank.
