Safety First: On the BDC415, do not touch the heater plate while it is in use. The surface becomes very hot.

Overview

If your brewed coffee is cooler than expected, preheating your carafe or cup, increasing the brew temperature, using the BDC415 heater plate, or descaling the brewer may help.

Procedure

  1. Preheat your carafe or cup
    • Fill the carafe or cup with hot water.
    • Let it sit for about 30 seconds.
    • Discard the water.
    • Brew your coffee as usual.
    • Preheating helps maintain the coffee's temperature and keeps it hotter for longer.
  2. Increase the brew temperature
    • Open Settings.
    • Select Custom.
    • Select Brew Temp.
    • Increase the brew temperature, up to 98°C / 208°F.
    • Brew again and check the result.
  3. For BDC415, use the heater plate
    • The BDC415 includes a heater plate to help keep coffee hot in the glass carafe.
    • For brews over 600 mL / 20 fl oz (4 cups), the heater plate turns on automatically.
    • For brews smaller than 600 mL / 20 fl oz (4 cups), go to Settings > Keep Warm after brewing.
    • Select the desired Keep Warm duration.
    • Press and hold the dial for 3 seconds to activate the heater plate.
    • Keep Warm does not automatically activate for Single Serve brews, but it can be manually activated after brewing.
  4. Descale the brewer
    • Mineral buildup can reduce the brewer's flow and brewing temperature.
    • If your coffee is still cooler than expected, or the Descale icon is flashing on the display, run a descale cycle according to your brewer's instructions.

Outcome & Next Steps

After completing these checks, brew another batch and check the coffee temperature. If the coffee is still cooler than expected, additional troubleshooting or service may be required.
