How to tamp and trim the dose

Share with friends

Now that you’ve unboxed your new Breville Bambino®, washed and dried all its parts, and familiarized yourself with the interface, it’s time to make your optimal third wave specialty coffee (using beans within that prime post-roast window). Tamping the ground coffee ensures the correct extraction speed, leading to balanced, nuanced complexities in your espresso. To tamp your dose, gently tap the portafilter several times to distribute the coffee evenly. Next, tamp the grounds down firmly with the tamper, twisting as you do so. The edge of the tamper should be level with the top of the filter basket. Once it is tamped, insert and lock the portafilter into The Bambino® and you are ready to extract your next coffee.
