How to create latte art: the dot

Share with friends

The Breville Bambino® is so much more than just a compact coffee maker. With the steam wand and milk jug accessory, you have everything you need to make café-quality latte art. With a little practice, you’ll be creating espresso drinks as beautiful as they are delicious. Let’s start with The Dot, the foundation for other latte art techniques. After the milk has been textured, it’s time to start creating art. 1) Begin with the jug high and tilt the cup of espresso to create a larger surface area to pour the microfoam milk. 2) Pour a thin, constant stream directly into the center, piercing the crema of the espresso. 3) As the cup fills, turn it more upright and bring the jug closer to the surface, almost touching it. 4) As the jug gets closer and the foam fills the cup, a white dot will start to form. Keep pouring consistently, making the dot larger. This is the first step in creating beautiful The Heart, Tulip, or Rosetta latte art.
