To make the strawberry syrup, place the strawberries, sugar, almond extract and lemon juice in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Cook, stirring occasionally for approximately 30 minutes or until the strawberries have cooked down into a liquid. Remove from the heat and cool for 10 minutes. Strain into an airtight container or jar.
Spoon 2 tablespoons of the strawberry syrup into a tall serving glass, then top with ice. Carefully pour in the milk and finish with the cold espresso. Garnish with a fresh strawberry to serve.
